Planning Your Canada & Alaska Journey

What kinds of vacations can you arrange?

We design complete journeys in Canada, Alaska or both, bringing together places to stay, transportation and experiences. Your vacation might include a scenic road trip, a wilderness lodge, wildlife viewing, a small ship cruise, northern lights experiences or time exploring cities and coastal communities. We also arrange rail journeys, luxury stays and small group touring.

Can you combine Canada and Alaska in one vacation?

Yes. Our Travel Designers can bring Canada and Alaska together in one itinerary, with recommendations on the route, connections and time needed in each destination. Tell us which places and experiences interest you, and we will help create a journey with a comfortable pace and time to enjoy the places along the way.

Can I customize one of your suggested itineraries?

Yes. Our suggested journeys are a starting point. Depending on the itinerary and available arrangements, we can add nights, adjust accommodation, include different experiences or connect your journey with another destination. Some cruises, lodges and escorted tours follow set schedules, and your Travel Designer will explain where changes are possible.

How do I choose when to travel and how long to stay?

Start with the experiences you most want to enjoy and the amount of time you have available. Our team can recommend destinations, travel dates and a realistic route around those priorities. We consider travel time between stops, the pace you prefer and the experiences operating during your visit.

Will I travel independently or with a group?

Both options are available. An independent journey gives you your own itinerary, with accommodation, transportation and selected experiences arranged in advance; individual excursions may be shared with other travelers. An escorted small group tour follows an organized itinerary with a guide and fellow guests. We will explain the format of each part of your vacation.

Can a train journey be part of my wider vacation?

Yes. We can include scenic rail travel alongside hotels, wildlife experiences, lodge stays or other destinations. Your Travel Designer will help you understand how the train fits your route and what is included. For detailed questions about trains, cabins and onboard service, visit our specialist Canada Rail Vacations FAQs or Alaska Rail Vacations FAQs.

Can you arrange stays and experiences before or after a cruise?

Yes. We can plan a land journey around your cruise, from a city stay to a longer itinerary through Canada or Alaska. Share your cruise dates and arrival and departure ports so we can recommend suitable accommodation, connections and experiences. Your quote will identify the arrangements included in the journey we design for you.

Quotes, Booking & Your Travel Designer

How do I start planning and request a quote?

Contact our Travel Designer team with your preferred dates, number of travelers, approximate budget and any places or experiences you have in mind. You do not need a finished itinerary. We will help refine your ideas and prepare a quote for a journey that suits your interests.

Will I know my hotels, room types and inclusions before I book?

Yes. Our quotes identify your hotels and room types, transportation and included experiences, so you know what you are choosing. We do not rely on vague hotel categories or “or similar” descriptions. Your Travel Designer will explain the arrangements and highlight anything awaiting confirmation, along with the meals, transfers and other services included in your quote.

Can I book a day tour or excursion without accommodation?

We arrange tours and experiences as part of journeys that include accommodation. We do not book standalone day excursions. If you would like to add a guided experience, wildlife outing or other activity to a stay, our team can help build it into a complete itinerary.

How far ahead should I begin planning?

Get in touch once you have an idea of your travel dates, especially if you have a particular lodge, cruise, room type or experience in mind. Planning early gives us more opportunity to match arrangements to your preferences. If your departure is closer, we can help you explore the options still available.

How quickly will I hear back, and when is my booking confirmed?

We prioritize responding within the same business day. Confirming a complete journey can take longer because we coordinate with individual hotels and experience providers. Your Travel Designer will keep you informed about availability, outstanding confirmations and the next update, and will advise when your arrangements are confirmed.

Where can I find payment, change and cancellation terms?

Please review our Booking Conditions and the terms supplied with your quote and booking. Your Travel Designer can explain the payment schedule and the conditions that apply to your arrangements. Contact us before making changes so we can check availability and any applicable charges.

Can my Travel Advisor book with you on my behalf?

Yes. We work with Travel Advisors to plan Canada and Alaska journeys for their clients. Your advisor can work with our local Travel Designers to bring your preferences and arrangements together. Advisors can find more information on our Travel Advisors page.

Preparing for Your Journey & Support Along the Way

What travel documents and itinerary details will I receive?

You will receive an electronic itinerary covering your booked arrangements, with relevant confirmation details, meeting points and pickup instructions, plus vouchers where required. Road trip itineraries include route guidance. Your Travel Designer will explain when to expect your final documents and help with any questions before departure.

Who can help me while I am traveling?

Our local support team is available seven days a week while you are traveling in Canada or Alaska. Use the contact details and after-hours instructions provided with your travel documents if you need help with your booked arrangements. Keep those details accessible throughout your journey.

What are your office hours, and how can I contact the team?

Visit our Contact Us page for current Travel Designer office hours and contact options. Our team is based in Vancouver, and published office hours use Pacific Time. Assistance for travelers already on their journey is available seven days a week through the support details in their travel documents.

Can you help with accessibility needs or dietary requirements?

Please tell us about mobility, accessibility and dietary requirements when you first inquire. We can check suitable arrangements with accommodation and experience providers before you book. Facilities and services vary, so your Travel Designer will explain what can be confirmed for your chosen itinerary.

What passport, visa or entry documents will I need?

Requirements depend on your nationality, travel documents and route. For a journey that crosses between Canada and Alaska, check the requirements for every border crossing, including your return journey. Consult the official Government of Canada entry guidance and U.S. visitor information for current requirements.

Can you arrange a guide or experiences in another language?

Let your Travel Designer know if you would like private guiding or an experience in a language other than English. We can check available options with local providers and confirm what is possible for your itinerary. Please raise language preferences early so they can be considered while we plan your journey.
